FAQ

The frames weight between 2.5kg und 3kg, thats the common range. The overall weight is much more dependent on your choice of componentes than on the bamboo.

Bamboo, Lugs out of hemp rope and epoxid gum

  • 0.18 kg metal
  • 2.1 kg Bamboo & Hemp
  • 0.2 kg Epoxi gum

Bikes made of carbon fibre or aluminium are easy to saw through, because they got very thin walls (1-2mm). Bamboo is siginficantly thicker and therefore more difficult to saw through. Besides, what would the thief do with a broken frame?

It definitely is. Our frames meet the standards and have been testet by EFBe Prüftechnik in Waltrop (D. The standards include bicycle security standards  ISO 4210, EN 14764, 14766, 14781. You can read the test certificate here.

On top of that we test every single frame on his stiffness. The test report is part of the papers you receive when buying a Bambooride Bike.

We sell the frames with 2 warranty on them. If any cracks or like occur within two years, we will replace the frame. Tears in the bamboo less than 2mm will be glued. We have to assume, that the bikes were used and stored properly. This warranty therefore excludes damages caused by mould, moistness or overstressing.

Yes, definitely. The frame binds more than 0,5kg CO2 than being produced by production and transport. Compared to steel, aluminium or carbon fibre frames, which set free more than 5kg CO2 during production and transport. This is a very strong argument pro the ecological benefits of using a bamboo frame.
